ESSENTIALS | Zenfone 4 Max Lite Review : What to expect

The Asus Zenfone 4 max lite is by no means a flagship, but it does hold its own against other similarly priced phones. In a today’s market where you can get a decent smart phone with capable specs and features that’s only 1/3 or 1/4 of the price of leading brands, the gap between flagships and entry-level phones are slowly closing in. Companies like Asus are pushing the boundaries as to what an entry level smart phone should be. Customers should not compromise between two different devices because of its features; a good smart phone should tick all the right boxes regardless of the price and Asus has made a very compelling product.

The Design

Aesthetically, the zenfone 4 max lite is almost identical to the zenfone 4 and the zenfone 4 max in design with a few changes but still feels great in the hand with a good heft and looks sleek and premium. The metal unibody design, along with the 2.5D curved glass and curved edges all contribute to the build, a smooth, elegant, and seamless looking device. Looking at the front of the phone, we can see the LED notification light, LED flash, earpiece, the 8MP front facing camera, capacitive buttons, a home button that doubles as a fingerprint scanner And of course, the 5.2” 1280x720 resolution IPS LCD screen at 282 ppi.  It is only 720p, but at that screen size, you’ll hardly notice the difference in screen quality compared with a 1080p screen. The dual nano sim card tray with a dedicated microSD slot is located at the left side of the phone and the power button and volume rocker at the right.  At the bottom, we have the bottom-firing speaker and the micro-USB port. Oh, I forgot about the 3.5mm headphone jack, yes, it has one, and it’s at the top. Looking at the back, there we have the 13MP+5MP dual camera setup with the LED flash.

Good Camera for a Budget Price

Here are some sample photos that i took using this smartphone. I am really into editing and I use Adobe Light room. So there , check the photos below.

A Smartphone made for Lite users

The zenfone 4 max lite’s chipset; the Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 clocked at 1.4 GHz, paired with the Adreno 308 for its GPU and with 2GB of ram is capable of handling your daily activities. It may run a little slow or sluggish at times especially if you’re playing graphically demanding games but most of the time, it’s snappy and responsive.

Battery and Software

For its battery , at 13%, it can still last long for 13 hours standby time. It has a 4,100mAh battery that supports fast charging as well. It's a plus for me so waiting time is lessened.

The device runs ZenUI 4.0 on top of Android 7.1.1 out of the box.

The Verdict

So far , this phone can handle all my expectations for its price. Good battery life , good for lite use , can run moba games with decent graphics and I really love how it feels when I'm holding it. Nice and sleek.

It is priced at Php 7,995.00 and available in most stores nationwide ( I think?♥)
